SDNY Federal Courthouse New York, NY – After a 2.5 hour arraignment, the Judge has denied Ghislaine Maxwell bail based on her wealth, dual citizenship as well as being an extreme flight risk. I was one of the few on the teleconference call from SDNY Federal Courthouse in New York City.
Some key points in the arraignment:
*Maxwell pleaded not guilty
*Experts feel she should have been granted bail
*Two victims gave witness statements, one in writing under the name of “Jane Doe” and the other victim heard named Annie Farmer.
*Trial Date set for 7/12/2021
*The charges stem from over 25 years ago
*Upon arrest, she has been in solitary confinement, can only shower every 72 hours, and is in a room with lights on 24/7
*She listed no income from employment yet has several bank accounts all over the world.
*Defense Attorney Mark Cohen gave a compelling argument for bail citing other clients such as Dryer & Madoff.
