Who would have thought the NHL would be involved in WWE NXT moving its weekly episodic show from Wednesday night to Tuesday nights. Per usual the simple reason involved is money, to the tune of 400 million dollars. This is how it all goes down. The Walt Disney company, which owns ESPN & ABC announced a 7 year rights agreement with the NHL for over 400 million dollars per year. This doubles the price that NBC Universal had with the NHL previously. Although negotations are ongoing within the companies, the deal itself expires in October. With that being said, the NHL games that have been airing on Wednesday nights on NBC Sports will no longer take place as NBC Sports is shutting down sometime this year as part of the ongoing changes within NBC Universal. It appears now that the Wednesday night NHL games will move to the USA Network thus moving WWE NXT programming to Tuesday nights. The move by USA to switch NXT to Tuesday nights really comes as no surprise as WhattaDay! had an exclusive interview with NXT representatives last week in which they told us that “NXT moving to Tuesday nights is inevitable.” Announcements on all the changes taking place are forthcoming pending the finalization of the deals that are on all but finalized. WhattaDay! will stay on this story as it keeps developing.
